U.S. Out of Iraq S.F. March
ozelotl March 6th, 2007
The Watsonville Brown Berets will be speaking at the SF U.S. Out of Iraq march on war ties to ‘immigration.’
March 17th marks the 4th anniversary of the start of the criminal invasion of Iraq, Hundreds of thousands of people from around the country will descend on the Pentagon-the symbol of the infectious disease know as militarism reeking havoc in communities across the world. On March 18 we will march here in San Francisco — in a mass demonstration to demand: U.S. Out of Iraq Now! Funds for people’s needs and not the war machine.
2007 also marks the 40th anniversary of the historic 1967 anti-war march to the Pentagon during the Vietnam War. The message of the 1967 march was “From Protest to Resistance,” and marked a turning point in the development of a countrywide mass movement. And here we are again.
It was not congress that stop the war in Vietnam- it was the soldiers who refused to fight.
It was the people who took to the streets. And so today we take this movement from protest to resistance.
We take this movement from our classrooms, from our work places, from our communities…. We are taking this movement to the streets.
Everyday, people all over this world are struggling for basic human rights are struggling to stay alive- we here in the united states and in all the imperialist countries also share in this struggle but as tenants of the belly of the beast we are in a struggle for our dignity.
The people will stop this war as we have in the past. Not Congress, Not the Whitehouse, not any branch of the government! We will stop this war, and all of the wars waged on the people of this world
So Brothers and Sisters I ask that you Join us on March 18th – Help us build a youth and student contingent- Help us show the world, that in the belly of this imperialist beast, that in this country that has failed us, we stand strong and we stand along side the resistance.
