WHEN: Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

WHERE: Monterey County Board of Supervisors General Meeting – 168 West
Alisal St., 1st Floor, Salinas, CA.

TIME: 10:00am for public comment

ALSO!! SAME DAY…

Watsonville City Council (7:00pm for public comment – 275 Main St., 4th
Floor, Watsonville, CA.)

Methyl Iodide is a new toxic chemical recently approved for usage by the
California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with high opposition in the United
States. This chemical will replace Methyl Bromide, the pesticide used
mostly on Strawberries and Raspberries.

Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties are most at risk by this chemical since
they use the highest levels of Methyl Bromide (approximately 1.5 million
and 600,000 total pounds in 2008, respectively). Methyl Iodide is four
times more toxic and carcinogenic than Methyl Bromide. If we can convince
Monterey County and the City of Watsonville, two major ag communities, to
oppose to the use of Methyl Iodide, we can send a very strong message to
the EPA and California’s DPR.

Come out and support!! WE NEED YOU TO SPEAK OUT – OUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON IT!

****For more information, call Ramiro @ 831-254-1953 or e-mail
Poetic S. and Peklat met in Central California. They were in a crew called DOBADOZA making music, organizing, and perfroming theatre. Divine Daughters were birthed when they both relocated to Los Angeles. These sisters bridge their different back grounds allowing the listener to dance, learn, and unite. This is music for the nomadic spirit, bgurls, bboys, spiritual folks, youth and the universe. These women make music because it feels good, it feels free, and they want to spread energy exponentially.

Poetic Stimulator aka Patricia has been a performer since the age of 5. Music and the arts have always been in her family for generations. She has been writing poetry since she was 13 and got her start in music doing open mic’s at her college. Soon after she was a founding member of her group DobaDoza an all female hiphop Quartet. Her main goal is to stimulate the minds all around her about the truth. Now relocated to LA peklat and Poetic S. started divine daughters.

Simón Sedillo is a community rights defense organizer and film maker. He has spent the last 8 years documenting, producing and teaching community based video documentation in Mexico and the US. Through lectures, workshops, and short films, Sedillo breaks down the effects of neoliberalism, the North American Free Trade Agreement, and militarism on indigenous communities, immigrant communities, and communities of color in the US and Mexico. Through collaborative media projects, Sedillo’s work has contributed to a growing network of communities whose primary objective is to share, teach, and learn from one another, about community based media production and the collective construction of horizontal networks of community rights defense. Sedillo is also an active member of the campaign to close the U.S. Army School of the America’s, at Fort Benning, in Columbus, GA.
This August 2010, students from across California?s colleges and universities will come together to embark on a 540 mile bike tour known as the California Tour de Dreams. This will be the second annual Tour de Dreams to raise scholarship funds for underrepresented and historically marginalized students, who are/will be the first in their families to go to college. Our mission is to raise awareness about the rising cost of higher education and to show students that with a little creativity, they too can achieve their dreams, to show that just because we are in most cases completely disenfranchised from the institutions that are put in place to insure access to a higher education we can collectively create our own access to higher education. Combining our collective efforts to have collective successes.

This year 50 students will be riding their bikes and a team of 25 volunteers who will tour from UC Berkeley to UC Los Angeles, stopping at different campuses along the way to hold press conferences to address the importance of access, affordability, and diversity in higher education today. To make this dream a reality, we are counting on individuals like you to sponsor the tour. We are not pro-cyclist many of us do not even have bicycles. It is in this that we need your support there are many bicyclist here in Santa Cruz and Monte Ray Counties many with more then one bike and people that do not use their bikes any more. Help us by contributing your unused bikes so that we in turn can help ourselves continue our education.

Adult Road and Mountain Bikes Preferred, thank you.
The Watsonville Bike Shack will be assisting in the collection and repair of donated bicycles.
The Bike Shack is a youth-run bicycle repair and training project sponsored by the Watsonville Brown Berets.
The goal of the Bike Shack is to provide healthy and safe spaces for youth, help care for our environment, and provide free bike services to the local community.

The donation of your bicycle will be tax deductible.
On August 8, 2005 Mr. Fonseca underwent a polygraph test, which was conducted by Dr. Louis Rovner, Ph.D. on the advice of INNOCENT, a Michigan-based organization. Mr. Fonseca passed the polygraph with an overall score of +13 (passing score is +6).

Thirty-five to life for a crime he did not commit! Railroaded by the scandalous L.A.P.D. Rampart Police Station in 1995. Sixteen year old male witness recanted his testimony midway through the trial, stating that Timothy did not do it, but that he lied because he feared the police. Long list of suspects, but only Timothy’s finger prints were tested with NO MATCH. Victim’s wife described the suspect as bald, no facial hair and no tattoos, as viewed by her at 3:30 A.M. from a distance of 180 feet. Timothy had a full head of hair, mustache and tattoos.

Throughout Timothy’s ordeal and 16 years of incarceration, he has maintained that HE IS INNOCENT. In 2005, a polygraph was given to Timothy on behalf of the Innocence Program, Timothy scored +13, to be considered truthful one must obtain +6 score.
